Of the back of their recent and highley talked about performance at Big Day Out 2006, Soma Rasa return to the clubs starting with The Beach Hotel (Byron Bay) on Thrusday 16th March followed by Sol Bar (Sunshine Coast) on the Friday night for some serious Breakbeat business. Tickets for the show at Sol Bar can be purchased from the venue.

SOMA RASA SUPPORT ROOTS MANUVA ON THE "AWFULLY DEEP TOUR"

Freefall Records and Movement Productions are proud to present Roots Manuva aka Rodney Smith, the award winning UK rapper, live @ The Arena on October 1. Roots Manuva will be performing with his 6 piece live band in support of his latest album, 'Awfully Deep'.

 

Roots Manuva’s Live set to be Brisbane's biggest night of hip-hop, dub, breaks and beats as Brisbane's finest live acts descend on the Arena all with one hope, one quest. Joining the quest will be Soma Rasa (feat Kina + Nfamas) , Resin Dogs, Nfamas (1200 Techniques), Miss Brown, Dj Katch, Kristian Hernandez, Complex, and young gun Sampology.

Also just announced is the inclusion of local Vj's Lowdown (Glastonbury Festival '05 + Big Day Out) and Triggerhappy (Big Day Out '05)

 

 

SOMA RASA JOIN SONIC ANIMATION ONE LAST TIME

SOMA RASA and SONIC ANIMATION join forces for the last time as Sonic's farewell Australia with a national tour to support their retrospective '11'.

A veritable benchmark of Australian electro / breaks music, Soma Rasa's gig list reads like a who's who of International and Australian electronica. It was a support slot for Moby on his 1999 Australian tour that sparked it all off, since then the names speak for themselves. Amongst a plethora of others, the indomitable Hazard Brothers have shared bills with the likes of Fatboy Slim, The Chemical Brothers, Trans Global Underground, Carl Cox, Freestylers and 1200 Techniques through to Gerling and Endorphin. Their festival credits include Livid, Homebake and 6 appearances at The Big Day Out.

Soma Rasa's new single "Say What You Say" continues to receive a righteous reception via high rotation all across national airwaves. A teaser from their long anticipated and soon to be released, second full-length album. Recorded in Sunshine Studios with seminal Hip-Hop act DIGITAL UNDERGROUND,  ³Say What You Say² features the unmistakeable vocals stylings of Shock G, Money B, Metaphysical, Humpty Hump and scratches from DJ NuStylez splayed across the energetic beats and basslines Soma Rasa have become famous for.

 

SOMA RASA WITH INFUSION THIS SATURDAY NIGHT 30TH APRIL 

 
Soma Rasa have finally finished the mix and master of  the new single "Say What You Say" feat. Digital Underground and are primed and ready to let loose for some live shows before it's release date on May 30. Teaming up with Infusion this Saturday night, the Brisbane scene is set for one of the biggest live electronic events of the year. Already with a venue change due to expected demand after Soma Rasa was added to the bill, tickets are now proving to be selling fast.
Soma Rasa will be preforming with appearances from Kina, Miss Brown and DNO on the mic and taking over the duties on dex while Kristian is overseas. Get in early - Soma Rasa's set launches at 10 pm and will feature visuals by Lowdown (Resin Dogs / Big Day Out / Livid) + Triggerhappy (Big Day Out).

QLD MUSIC FESTIVAL PRESENTS "FREEFALL MASSIVE"

In partnership with the Queensland Music Festival, Freefall Records is proud to present  FREEFALL MASSIVE in the historical Belgian Spiegeltent which is taking up residence in South Brisbane throughout the QMF programme.

A Night of Breaks / Beats / and Hip Hop, this will truly be a rare Brisbane event with the full Freefall Records crew onstage performing in one of the most highly regarded and lush performace spaces in the world. With headline performances from Soma Rasa (return show after recent National Tour) and Ozi Batla / Urth Boy (The Herd), this is sure gig for hip-hop heads and beat freaks.

A night of pounding beats and electronic squeals is about to descend upon Byron Bay on December 2 when SOMA RASA drop a two hour live set of sharpened beats. With their latest single “Say What You Say” still in the charts 5 months after release, Australia's #1 beat breakers will turn it on and turn it up for another capacity show @ The Great Northern. Joining them on the night will be Brisbane's electrogliders PONYLOAF and Byron's own Breaksmith Dj SlLINKY .

SOMA RASA recently spent a few days in Sunshine Studios with the Seminal Hip-Hop act DIGITAL UNDERGROUND. The track titled "Say What You Say" features the unmistakeable vocals stylings of Shock G, Money B, Metaphysical, Humpty Hump and scratches from DJ NuStylez, all over the energetic beats and basslines SOMA RASA have become famous for.

DU, once signed to Tommy Boy Records, have collaborated with the likes of George Clinton and P Funk, and are world renowned for their multi-platinum hits Doowatchalike, The Humpty Dance, Same Song as well as launching the career of Tupac Shakur.

Produced by the HAZARD BROTHERS "Say What You Say" will drop in May 2005 and be followed by SOMA RASA's long anticipated second full-length album which has been in production for the past 18 months.

Those at Freefall at Ric's last Saturday Night were treated to the one and

only airing of the track during the Hazard Brothers set upstairs. It got the dancefloor pumping people we're screaming the hook "The Police don't like me" by the second chorus.

 

TSUNAMI BENEFIT - 02-02-05
Soma Rasa are teaming up with the Resin Dog's @ The Zoo on Sunday Feb 13 to raise funds for the victims of the Tsunami disaster. This will be the fist show that these 2 Brisbane Beat breakers have done together for almost 4 years. Doors open @ 5 pm

BIG DAY OUT 2005 - 1-02-05

After 7 appearances at the Big Day Out over the past 6 years the Soma Rasa brothers have now made their debut appearance with thier DJ sideproject Hazard Brothers. Big Day Out 2005 will go down as a landmark show for the Hazard Brothers as thousands struggled to fit into the Hothouse tent just after midday.
