TITLE- [ ONE OF THE BEST ]
BRISBANE TRIBE INTERVIEW

One of the best when it comes to live dance. These guys have been rockin' Brisbane (and the rest of the East Coast) for a few years now, and sell out venues such as the Zoo with their up-tempo big-beat sets.

Along with the Resin Dogs, Soma Rasa were one of the first Brisbane groups to really embrace the possibilities for live dance music, and acted as one of the inspirations behind what has since become a thriving scene.

Started by brothers Dan (drums) and Bill (synths/samples) Hazard, the group originally included DJ Shannon on turntables before his departure for Sydney. Since Shannon's exit the Hazard brothers have been doing the duo thing, but recent developments have seen Qld DMC champ Kristian Hernandez adding his own considerable talents to the mix.

After releasing their self-titled debut in 1998 the band cemented their reputation as one of the country's best live acts with local support spots with artists like Roni Size and Regurgitator, and a national tour with Moby in 1999. This tour coincided with the release of the limited edition single Future of the Funk, which also found its way onto the group's debut LP, I Mix Therefore I Am, released in November 2000.

Watch out for big things from these Brisbane beat freaks as they take their brand of funked-up breakbeats
to the world!
